Say You Want Me Page 34

Then I see a box of cupcakes from my store. I rush over and run my fingers over the black calligraphy print we use for our labels. “My store.”

He walks over behind me. “Erin sent them here for me. I know you miss home and the bakery.”

“I don’t even know what to say.”

I look to the left as he sets down a thermos I hadn’t realized he was carrying. I touch it and know.

“It’s your favorite.”

“It’s perfect.”

He really thought this through.

Between working and dealing with my crazy ass, he planned this.

If there was ever a time I doubted he would win me over, I was blind.

Wyatt steps forward, wraps his arms around my waist, and ducks his head to mine. “I’ve waited a long time for a girl like you. One that I’d want to do these things for. Someone who I want to come home to. When I asked you to come out here, I didn’t know this would be how I’d feel. I figured we’d enjoy each other, see that we’re from two different worlds, and move on. But the idea of you leavin’ makes me crazy.”

My breathing accelerates, and my throat goes dry. He’s feeling it all, too. I see it all in his eyes—the hope, the fear. We’re both in uncharted water, trying to plot the course and hoping we don’t get lost.

“I don’t know what to say.”

“Say you want me.” His eyes hold mine.

I lift my hands, take his face between them, and lock on to his eyes. “I want you.”

And I do. I want him right here and right now. I can’t make grander promises to him, not yet, maybe not ever. My heart and my head don’t add up, but I want him. Maybe it’s supposed to be like this, but I wouldn’t know. I grapple with the conflicting emotions. The want to have this new life and still keep everything I have in Philadelphia.

I’ve worked hard. I love my company. I don’t want to give it all up.

“For how long?” He seems to read my thoughts.

“We’ll have to see.” I smile. “Maybe longer than I thought.”

He doesn’t say anything. He holds me close, and I move my thumb across his stubble. His eyes close as he dips his head toward mine. “I’m really glad you said that,” he utters before his lips touch mine.

Everything shifts. His hands wrap around my back as he mashes me against his hard body. I moan against his lips, and our tongues connect as my hands fist into his hair. Gone is the tender couple speaking their truths. All that exists are two passionate people ready to prove it.

And I plan to make it the truth all night long.

I’ve been hungry for his touch again.

I’ve been starved to feel the unbridled hunger I know exists between us.

I’m ready to give myself to him and take everything he gives me.

Wyatt backs me up, hooks his hands behind my thighs, and lifts me into his arms. I hold on, staring at him, as he moves toward the bed. His gaze is heated and it warms me everywhere. I’m going to enjoy the burn.

“I plan on breakin’ all your rules tonight,” he promises.

“I plan to let you.”

His confident grin paints his face. “I told you it would happen.”

I smile and touch his cheek. “I knew you’d rise to the occasion.”

He lets out a deep laugh and lays me on the bed. His body covers mine, but he keeps his weight off me. “A lot more is going to rise.”

“I sure hope so.”

“I think we’ve”—he kisses me—“already”—another kiss—“established”—kiss—“that I can handle myself.”

He sure can, and I can’t wait to enjoy it again.

“Make love to me, Wyatt.”

Our eyes stay glued as he shifts his body to the side and roams a hand down my front. His touch is a whisper against my skin as his lips move with mine in a sensual dance. He pulls the strap of my top and bra lower, exposing my breast before his thumb and forefinger roll my nipple back and forth. I want to arch off the bed in pleasure, but I make myself stay still. Everything feels heightened tonight. I let out a low groan as he does it again.

These pregnancy hormones are going to finally prove to be useful.

If this has me practically panting, I can’t wait for the good stuff.

His mouth captures my nipple, and he licks and sucks. “God!” I cry out, sinking my hands into his hair to keep him there.

I need more.

Every inch of me is screaming out for his touch. Wyatt doesn’t make me wait. His hand glides across my stomach and his eyes meet mine. “This is how we should’ve made her.”

“Her?” I place my hand over his.

He tilts his head. “I think we’ll have a girl.”

I haven’t thought too much about the sex of the baby since the talk with his mother. I’ve been too busy trying to wrap my mind around the idea of having a baby at all. But when he says it, I can see it. Wyatt carrying her on his shoulders. Him having his nails painted because she wants him to. He’d be that for her. He’d be the daddy little girls pray for.

“I don’t care what we have, I just want the baby to be healthy. I worry a lot.”

Wyatt heard all about my family history when we met with Dr. Borek. His face blanched a little when I explained my cousin was diagnosed with cancer in her fourth month. He never said anything, and I never brought it up again, but it’s always on my mind.

His thumb brushes against my belly. “I don’t worry, Angie. We can’t control it. All we can control is what we think. I know our child will be whatever we can handle.”

“God.” I sigh. “You’re everything I never knew to ask for.”

I watch the shock roll through his gaze. “You’re everything I’ve waited for.”

“No more waiting, Wyatt.”

He moves into action. My lips and his become one and our hands roam. I lift, taking my shirt off, and he does the same.

His body is glorious, and it’s all mine.

I push him on the bed and straddle him. My hair falls, creating a cocoon around us for only a moment before Wyatt gathers it in his hands so he can guide my movements. He controls the kiss from the bottom, and I love it. My hands rest on his chest, feeling his heartbeat beneath me. I try to lean back, but he keeps me steady, his tongue plunging into my mouth as we take everything the other offers.

When he flips me over, I yelp in surprise. I liked being on top of him, and open my mouth to protest, but he’s already on his knees removing his belt buckle. I watch as he slowly undoes the button of his jeans and slides them down. I go to mimic what he’s done, but he takes both my wrists in his hands and places them above me. “Let me.”

Wyatt removes my jeans and underwear, kissing and nipping at my skin as he reveals it, and then tosses them to the floor next to his pants. He stares at me in awe. My skin feels branded by his gaze. My heart feels full from his words. And my body is about to become his.

“Say it,” he commands.

I have no idea what he’s asking.

“Say you want me,” he says as a request.

I lean on one elbow and touch the side of his face. “I want you.”

“Again.”

He moves to hover over me.

“I want you.”
